To Speak the Name of God

We play Veggie Tales videos for our 3 year old daughter, and she loves them. I love to hear her sing since she is just developing that skill and it is so precious to hear her try! What was beyond precious was to hear her sing, "a message from the Lord," from the "Jonah" movie. The word, "Lord," was pronounced more like "Ward," but it was so beautiful and pure to hear coming from her that it made me think how much more God loved hearing His name from her, far more warming to Him than it could ever have warmed my heart.

When she sweetly calls me "Mommy," it is a tenuous, fleeting joy to hear and a parent loves to hear that. My wonderment was in how much more does God love to hear us call on Him? I've taken Bible studies about the names of God, and that is an incredible undertaking anyone should make, and His names evoke majesty, deep love, and justice, to name a few! Moreover, He has names so that we can use them. He wants to hear His name, I am positive, from us, in a way that brings joy to Him. To say, speak, sing His name and mean it, like speaking to one you love after a long time, has to be pleasing to our Maker. He loves us and wants a relationship with us. As you know, your name spoken from the lips of someone who loves you is sweetness and light inside you.

My hope is that these thoughts will draw you closer to the One who made you. He wants to hear from you and have a relationship with you. Jesus Christ provides that by having been a sacrifice and making a way that we can go, with awe and respect, boldly before the throne of God. (Hebrews 10:19) God has a plan and a purpose for your life, it would be great to talk to Him about it! He is waiting to hear His name from your lips.
