Foster Care, Part 2

Being a Foster Parent has been an emotional journey for me. Ken and I have had a baby for the last month in our care and just adore her. The heartbreak when she leaves will be indescribable. We, too, have a 6-year-old in our care since August 11th. The care for him can be more difficult than for a baby sometimes since a six-year-old boy can be hard to talk to. You know the pattern, tell them a thousand times to do something menial they should have thought to do already! We will miss him, too, if he and his sisters (in another home) ever come up for adoption and then are adopted. Yet, we know that we could have him until he is 18, too. My biggest peace of mind will come for those three is when they can get some permanancy in their lives. They surely need it.

All in all, it has been a very rewarding time with those put in our charge. As Ken reminds me, "the days can be long, but the years are short." We see it on both of these children. Foster Care is a cocoon one can provide for a child through the midst of a tumultuous life situation. It is not easy sometimes. I do recommend that you take the time to ask yourself if God is leading you to be a Foster Parent. There are children who need adoption, too, through your local DSS. Please consider this lifestyle of parenting. We went from no children or nieces or nephews, nothing, to two children in about half a year. I know if we can do it, most anyone can.

Hopefully, soon, I will be back to writing on political issues du jour. Even though I don't get to my computer much in the day, I do watch a lot of news. Michelle Malkin has conducted some extremely good face time on FoxNews last week. Check out her website... (just do a web search).

Don't forget to vote on May 2nd, you people in Union County. Email me with who I should vote for and why, PLEASE. Or respond to this post.
